Each holiday season, we are reminded of hope: a light in winter’s darkness, the sparkle of generosity in a community of caring neighbors and a new year on the horizon, about to begin. Even as we look to what is bright, new and wonderful, the nostalgia of past years has a way of showing up each yuletide. Familiar music, often the songs we grew up listening to, takes us right back to childhood memories, memories with our children and festive gatherings throughout the decades. The soundtrack of lives well lived would almost certainly include some of those carols, hymns and shared songs.
We recently asked our staff to put together a digital playlist featuring their favorite Christmas and Hanukkah songs. A QR code in our holiday card this year links recipients to their selections. We’ll play it at our annual holiday party for staff, an afternoon we share favorite moments, fun gifts and great food, an intentional time together to step away from the usual workday. Creative people need the arts, laughter and levity, all of which have a place at our firm. We believe the best work happens when people are happy; if holiday music and a good lunch can do that, we’re here for it, just as we’re here for them so they can continue to provide outstanding results for our clients.
In fact, every person needs the best the season has to offer. We hope you, too, will take time away as the year ends to reflect, enjoy and listen to good music. May all the love and light of the holidays fill your last days of 2023.
