3 simple ways to build a better brand for your business using social media

Social networking provides a channel to communicate with clients and cultivate relationships with potential clients in a meaningful way. When it comes to branding, social networking is essential.

Social media can be a first impression, but will it be a good one or a bad one? When done right, your social media presence can help solidify your brand, increase brand recognition and grab your readers’ attention.

While there are countless ways to improve brand awareness, here are three simple steps to help build a better brand for your business using social media.

#1. Post Consistently

First, identify the social media platform or platforms that fit your business, and then commit to posting regularly.

The Pew Research Center reported that in 2018, 60 percent of Instagram and 74 percent of Facebook users visited these platforms on a daily basis.

Being on one or more social networking sites keeps your business at the forefront of your customers’ minds, so you are the first brand they think of when searching for a solution. That’s only true if you are posting consistently.

A social media calendar is an effective tool that many businesses use to create meaningful, consistent content. Check out this example of a social media calendar from Later.com.

At Price Lang, we work collaboratively with our clients. We invest in the time and resources to help them manage these sites thoughtfully and strategically so they can focus on other aspects of their brand and mission.

#2. Keep it Visually Consistent

A visually strong social media presence helps create a specific voice for your brand, and, in turn, creates recognition and association with your audience.

A study by the University of Loyola, Maryland found color increases brand recognition by up to 80 percent. If all you do is incorporate your brand color consistently in your posts, eight out of ten followers will recognize you just by your color!

Not only does a consistent color palette make your brand more recognizable, it also sets you apart from other posts. Associating color with your brand will allow viewers to know when you post without even looking at your handle or caption. Want to take it a step further? Along with color, be consistent with the fonts you use.

Oreo and Susan G. Komen below are great examples of how being consistent in font and color can set your business apart from its competitors by grabbing your followers’ attention.

Similarly, we make sure our clients’ social media content is consistent with their brand colors and font across multiple platforms. We also work to insure that social media channels are consistent with message and tone of voice. Take our Instagram account for example. Notice anything?

#3. Have Variety

A Facebook with text heavy posts or an Instagram filled with only pictures tends to be bland and boring, and that can reduce follower engagement.

When it comes to social media, most users swipe too quickly or avoid reading all together. You only have a few seconds to grab someone’s attention. Posting a quote or an infographic is one way to grab your readers’ attention. It’s also a unique way to add variety that is visually appealing and relevant to your mission.

Lego and Charity Water both utilize videos, graphics and facts to engage followers.

Our team frequently assesses our clients’ social media platforms and creates content that engages its intended audience through graphics, pictures and news relevant to them.

All these things together not only help engage followers, but they create growth and a voice that is unique to a brand.
